The Kop Anthem
When you walk through the storm
Hold your head up high,
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of the storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Hold your head up high,
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of the storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Why is Anfield such a big fearful stadium? 2 words, THE KOP!! What the Kop does is something no other stand in the any stadium can, it’s a case of “ONE MAN’S FOOD IS ANOTHER’S POISON”. It’s a boon for LFC but a bane for any other club that visits. It charges up to max when the Reds are at their lowest, gives them a wave to ride on, and makes their opposition intimidated, strikes fear, sometimes even despair. Their support is imperishable. Their love for their club even more undeniable. Sometimes the only reason Liverpool fires up in the 2nd half after a horrible 1st is because they are attacking the Kop end of the pitch. They feel they owe it to the LFC faithful more than anything else. The Kop has the power to turn games on its heads especially on European nights, and make one of the best teams in the world tremble, with only their voice doing the talking.
Any football fan will have some sort of fascination for the Kop. The way the fans get behind the players is truely amazing and words cannot describe the atmosphere there.Right from the start till the final whistle the fans get behind the team and charge them up in such a way that losing is not even on their minds. Their morale is boosted so so high that winning by 3 or 4 goals at Anfield is a common sight. No club in Europe comes close to the amount of support and noise made by the fans at the Kop End. Even in the worst of times you will see the fans from the Kop End getting behind the players. Its a custom for Liverpool to play facing the Kop End during the second half as it is believed that the Kop has some sort of a magnet which sucks the balls towards itself. The Liverpool anthem " You Will Never Walk Alone " is yelled by the fans and that truely inspires the team in red to run riot at Anfield. The entire stadium turns into a volcano. The opposition team and their fans curse their luck for being paired against them because they know that winning at Anfield and bearing the high decibel levels of the Kop End is no big joke. For the opposition just facing the supporters seated at the Kop is very intimidating and the morale comes down to zero.
